About Me.

My egg flock is mostly heritage barnevelders.

I have been keeping poultry for more than 20 years in the often wet and challenging condition in the County of North Yorkshire. 

I have a passion for rare breeds and appreciate the diversity they bring to the homestead.

I have kept poultry for more years than I care to remember ( since 1998) including Guinea Fowl, Ducks and Turkeys in addition to around 300 chickens from 22 different breeds. 

This site is all mine and the pictures are all of my own chickens or those at poultry shows. I do not use AI on my sites.

The Barnevelder was my first rare breed and I started with a small flock of Gold Laced, now known in the UK as the Chestnut Barnevelder. In the last 18 months I have been writing a book on the Barnevelder which you can buy Amazon and most good book stores.

I have successfully exhibited both birds and eggs at poultry shows although these days between bird flu lock downs and travelling for work I don't do nearly as much as I would like.

I branched out into bantams, blue and silver laced over time.

The majority of my egg flock is rare breeds, even though they are more expensive to keep.
